Next weekend we are organising the 2010 Annalong Horsehoe. The start is at 11am at Dunnywater. Marshals need to make arrangements with Trevor and please be fully prepared for whatever weather the Mournes through at us for the day.
RACE INFO The races starts on Saturday at 11:00 from the entrance gates to the Dunnywater waterworks on the Head Road above Annalong (grid ref: J.357.224). It runs east along the road for 100m before turning north up a lane to Dunnywater woods to get out onto the mountains. The first peak is Chimney Rock followed by Commedagh, Cove, Slievelamagan and Binnian from where it descends to the Carricklittle track to reach the Head Road at the car park to finish along the road back to the gates. The distance is 12.1 miles with a climb of 5040 feet and last year's winning time was Deon McNeilly in 2hr20 and Kathleen Monteverde in 4hr12 (although the woman's is approx 2hr30) FULL GEAR may be required on this race and will be checked - Full body cover including a waterproof coat with hood, emergency food, whistle, compass, map. |
